DAMAGED PLANE

Repairs not 1 economic (N.Z. Press Association/ WELLINGTON, Nov. 8. The Ministry of Transport DC3 which was damaged when it landed at Paraparaumu Airport yesterday was not worth fixing, a Ministry spokesman saM today. The right undercarriage of the aircraft collapsed when it ran into a soft patch on landing after a two-man training calibration flight. Repairs to the engine, the middle section of the body of the plane and the right wing would probably cost more than the DC3 was worth, the spokesman said. The calibration division of the Ministry of Transport would now have to rely mainly on its remaining DC3 to do its work. Two Fokker Friendships are on order to replace the division’s DC3s.
