Minister in hospital
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 9. The Minister of Justice (Mr Riddiford) was still in Wellington Hospital tonight for observation with a suspected coronary condition. A hospital spokesman said he had been instructed to say only that Mr Riddiford was in hospital for "observation,” and had no report to 'make on his condition. But the Acting Prime Minister (Mr Shelton), said earlier that Mr Riddiford’s condition was not serious. Mr Riddiford was taken ill last night. He suffered a mild coronary attack in November, 1968, and on that occasion spent a month in hospital. Two Cabinet Ministers are now in hospital—the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake) is recovering satisfactorily from a prostate operation—and a third, the Minister of Works (Mr Allen) recently returned to work after a long convalescence from a coronary attack.
