Suspension of pupils
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Nov. 9. Several parents today criticised fhe suspension of pupils who took part in a sit-down demonstration at Hamilton Boys’ High School last week as unjust. They questioned the effect' it would have on their sons’ academic future. They feel their sons are being punished twice. The boys have already served a detention on Friday afternoon to make up for the time they lost demonstrating. About 50 pupils of the ’school have been suspended I for the rest of the school I week. Their parents were in- ; formed of the decision by telephone during the weekend. The school’s headmaster (Mr R. Taylor) said today that parents were still being notified. Those suspended came from the third, fourth, fifth and sixth forms. He denied a report that sixth formers who took part in the demonstration had been expelled.
