Interest rates increased

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 9. The Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) has announced that the Local Authorities Loans Board had, with his concurrence, increased the rates of interest for short-term local authority borrowing.

The new rates, which come into effect from November 6, are: One year, 4.80 per cent (previously 4.4 per cent); two years, 5.15 per cent (4.8 per cent); three years, 5.25 per cent (5.0 per cent);. four and five years, 5.50 per cent (5.3 per cent); six to nine years, 5.75 per cent (5.7 per cent). The new rates come after the revised short-term rates for Government stock and Treasury bills.
