Most wool values up
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright). LONDON, Nov. 6. Widespread competition and a. brighter market tone resulted in enhanced values for most wools at the London wool sales today. Compared with September rates, values for New Zealand scoured fleeces and shears rose by 2| to 5 per cent.- Skirtings were generally unchanged, but bulky crutchings were in the seller’s favour, and shorter lines 5 per cent dearer. Lambs were in better demand and values rose by fully 5 per cent. Greasy crossbred top making fleeces were 2| to 5 per cent dearer, and, whilst shears were barely firm, lambs gained fully 5 per cent. An improved market for slipe wools saw first-grade lambs selling at unchanged; levels, but lambs second gained 5 per cent. • Values for combing sheep were 2| to 5 per cent higher, and medium-length clothing sheep fully 5 per cent dearer, whilst slipemaster wools registered gains of from 5 to 10 per cent. Better competition for Australian greasy merinos saw values for good topmaking lines rise by 5 to 7| per cent with average topmaking i wools 5 per cent dearer. |
