Rescue at beach

(From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT, Nov. 9. A 14-year-old Westport girl, Beverley. Ford, and her 12-year-old brother Michael, possibly owe their lives to members of the Buller Board Riders’ Club who plucked them from the surf after they got into difficulties at Tuaranga Bay on Sunday. They were beink swept out to sea by a strong rip near the rocks on the southern side of the bay. Beverley was standing on a rock when a wave washed her into the surf. Her brother went after her but was caught also in the rip. Graham Alexander and Brian Brown raced into the surf and swam after the pair. With the help of several board riders who were surfing in the vicinity, they brought the youngsters ashore. Beverley was landed On a surboard. Mr Alexander is president of the board riders' club and Mr Brown is -the secretarytreasurer.
