ARMS SALES TO S.A.

(N.Z. P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LUSAKA, Aug. 21. President Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia stopped a Zambian delegation attending a conference in England next month because of .Britain’s policy of supplying arms to South Africa, it was announced yesterday. Mr John Mwanakatwe, sec-retary-general to the Zambian Government, was to have headed the five-man delegation to a conference on development, at Jesus College, Cambridge. President Kaunda’s statement, issued last night said: “Zambia views with great concern the possibility that Britain may decide to reresume the sale of arms, irrespective of their nature to South Africa. The statement said that the Cambridge conference was not important in itself, except in that it has provided Zambia with an opportunity to remonstrate against a policy she considers dangerous to the people of southern Africa.
