Luxury Coaches For S.I. Tours
Luxury coaches, of a type introduced in the North Island by the New Zealand Railways Road Services last year, are soon to be used in the South Island as well. The buses will be used for selected long-distance tours, and the first one will visit Christchurch at the end of this month. The new buses have fullyadjustable seats, adjustable foot-rests, adjustable freshair vents for each seat, a separate filtered-air ventilation system, a radio earphone for each passenger and individual seat-lights. The carpeted interior is finished in off-gold, with olive seats; there is a heating system, and the body is insulated against noise and h eat. Each bus is built on a 32ft chassis powered by a 5-litre petrol engine. Although this size of chassis can be fitted with seats for 36, the seats in the luxury coaches are more widely-spaced than usual, and there is thus seating for only 27 persons.
There is a large amount of luggage-space, and the outside of tiie body is finished in stanadrd Road Services colours.
