Netball Funds

Sir, —In June the general public and ardent netball sup-p-orters assisted in raising U 3500 to cover the costs of travelling to Jamaica. Supporters were led to believe that the four Canterbury girls | travelling with the team

would benefit from any surplus funds raised. They did, by $2O a player, while the local association retains the balance of over $2600. This hardly supports the publicity which was outlined in June, and unless a more generous allowance is made to the girls the finance is not being used for its true purpose with the result that the local association will lose many supporters.—Yours, etc., REGULAR SUPPORTER. August 13, 1970.

[Mrs K. W. Haworth, secretary of the Canterbury Basketball Association, replies: “The facts quoted by the correspondent are incorrect. If ‘Regular Supporter’ would care to approach the association direct, the correct information will be supplied.”]
