MIDFIELD LINK

Pollard In Old Role The double international. V. Pollard, will return to his New Zealand role, as a midfield builder of goals and sharp-shooter instead of as an outright striker, in the Christchurch United team to meet Eastern Suburbs in the Rothmans National Soccer League at Auckland tomoi row.

He takes the place of B Wilkinson, who will miss his first match of the season, since he came on as a substitute in the opening national league game. Wilkinson had asked to withdraw so that he could concentrate on his studies.

The United coach (Mr G Evans), has brought R Taylor back into the team, to link in a striking role with the 18-year-old G. Dacombe, scorer of eight goals in his three national league matches. A. Westwood, the left-back, who missed the last United match, has failed to displace ' the man who replaced him, P Frost

The team is: W. Weir; G. Davis, K. France, G. Griffiths, Frost; T. Haydon, Pollard; D. Finnie, Dacombe, Taylor, F. Madrussan. Reserves: D. Phillips, A. Watson, Westwood.
