Australian Prices Drift Lower
Share prices in most sectipns tended to drift a little lower after a firm start on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. The mining market closed off the top although there was interest in some speculative situations.
The Robe River listing was a dominant feature of this section of the market The 100 c shares first sold at 200 c and then at 185 c. A large volume of shares changed hands at this price and 367,000 shares were traded on the day. C.R.A. was the best of the established miners, gaining 40c, and there was modest support for Mount Isa, Peko and Western Mining. A strong run by Thiess was the mam feature of the industrial market. B.H.P. closed at 1500 c for a 10c improvement. Bounty lost ground after Wednesday’s advance on hopes of further gas shows. SYDNEY Sale*.—Am al.
