Man Shoots Four

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) AKRON (Ohio), August 19. A man shot and killed his estranged wife, wounded two other men and held his stepson hostage for nearly six hours yesterday before he shot the youth in the back and surrendered .to police. Police used tear-gas to flush Vincent Amelia, aged 48, from the house in the city’s east side where he hid after gunning down his wife and two men in a nearby tavern. A prosecutor had broadcast an ultimatum to Amelia to surrender. When police entered the house, they found the step- ( son, Randy Smith, aged 17, * had been shot in the back. He was admitted to Akron City Hospital in fair condition. Amelia, a mental patient on probation from Lima State Hospital, held police at bay by threatening to shoot his young hostage if they used i tear-gas. Police heard what appeared to be a shot and I 1 later used tear-gas. .. j
