TREATMENT OF SUKARNO
Third Wife Critical (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) DJAKARTA, June 25. Miss Ratna Sar Dewi, the Japanese third wife of the former President of Indonesia, Dr Sukarno, angrily lashed out today at President Suharto’s regime for what she alleged was the poor treatme't of Dr Sukarno before he died on Sunday. Miss Dewi had flown to Djakarta from Paris to see Dr Sukarno before he died. She also alleged, in an interview, that President Suharto had refused a request from her and Dr Sukarno’s second wife, Hartini, to bury the former President in Bogor, 40 miles south of Djakarta. The Foreign Minister (Mr Adam Malik) has said that Miss Dewi will not be arrested and will be allowed to leave Indonesia, but Government sources say that intelligence agents have “several points they would like to clear up with her.” Miss Dewi said she had to report to Brigadier-General Tjokropranolo, one of President Suharto’s intelligence chiefs, but had not been questioned about her reported wealth, or accusations that she was involved in the embezzlement of about SUS6Sm in Japanese war reparations while Dr Sukarno was President.
