N.Z. Butter For South Africa
(N.Z. Preus Associationf WELLINGTON, June 25. The Dairy Board announced today that it had sold 1000 tons of butter to South Africa for early shipment. South Africa was normally self-sufficient in dairy products and conducted an export trade, the board said, in a statement.
But supplies in South Africa were short at present because dry weather had restricted local production. New Zealand was South Africa's usual source of supply in these circumstances. The last time New Zealand sold butter to South Africa was in 1966, after a drought. Sales that year were 9000 , tons.
