SMOKE OVER CITY
This black cloud which drifted toward the city yesterday was caused by a fire-fighting exercise at Christchurch Airport The picture was taken in Memorial Avenue after the cloud, which had risen more than 1000 ft had begun to disperse. In the opposite direction, toward the Port Hills, the last of yesterday morning’s smog could be seen drifting eastwards.
