Leyland Performance Parts
A network of agents to sell special tuning parts has been appointed in Britain by British Ley- ' land, and similar agents ' will be appointed In the corporation’s export markets. The agents will carry large stocks of special tuning parts and will offer advice and service to customers wishing to modify their cars, the corporation I says. The service initially will be restricted to Austin and Morris cars and the I Triumph Spitfire, but it will | be extended progressively
to all cars in the British Leyland range. The new network is a development of the special tuning department of the corporation, which has been going since 1964 (when the British Motor Corporation was still in existence) and is situated alongside the corporation’s competition department at Abingdon. Experience gained during the corporation’s rally programme has been made available to the special tuning department for the benefit of performance-con-scious customers, the corporation says. The department prepared customers’
cars to rally specifications for the London-td-Mexico rally. As well as selected engine, suspension and body parts—such as light-weight fibreglass bonnets and doors—the agents will sell such items as special seats, wide wheels and instrument panels. The stage one tuning kits sold by the agents have been designed to improve both performance and economy, the corporation says. Cars fitted with the kits are still fully covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
