United Keeps Winning Team

For the vital fixture against Blockhouse Bay in Auckland tomorrow, Christchurch United will field the same team as that which beat Western Suburbs in its last Rothmans National Soccer League game, but has made two positional changes.

The New Zealand international, G. Griffiths, will move back into the middle, to link with his Technical clubmate, K. France, as double centrebacks, and the captain, P. Frost, will switch to rightback from the middle, where he has played in all of United’s previous eight matches.

The team is: D. Phillips; Frost, Griffiths, France, A. Westwood; V. Pollard, T. Haydon; B. Wilkinson, D. Watson, R. Taylor, F. Madrussan. Substitutes: C. Attridge, C. Cawley. The Christchurch-Block-house clash is one of two key matches this week-end affecting the leading clubs. In the other, the top-of-the-table Eastern Suburbs travel to Wellington to meet Hungaria. Hungaria, which caused the only major upset of the season so far when it defeated Blockhouse Bay early last month, could prove a great obstacle for Suburbs, particularly in front of its vociferous supporters at the Basin Reserve. Hungaria produced its finest

soccer, beating Stop Out, 4-0, in its last match, and a repetition of this form tomorrow would considerably worry Suburbs.

In fact, both United and Hungaria would put new life into the competition tomorrow should they win. The revival of the GriffithsFrance partnership should add to United’s defensive strength, while Frost is no stranger to the duties of a right-back, having carried them out admirably in the past. In the other national league matches this week-end, Gisborne City is at home to Stop Out, Western Suburbs are away to Mount Wellington.
