Cruelty To Stock

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, June 12. Cruelty inflicted on animals kept at freezing works for long periods because of strikes will be brought to the notice of the Ombudsman (Sir Guy Powles) by the Matamata sub-province of Federated Farmers. Members at their meeting at Matamata last evening discussed the problems caused by strikes. “First, there is the state of stock left hungry—some are known to die,” said the chairman, Mr A. J. Robinson. The loss to the farmer was considerable, as stock lost | condition rapidly, and the (monetary return was well bellow that expected, he said.
