FORGERY CHARGE
Man Remanded On Bail (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 15. Charges of forgery and uttering of a Waikato District Racing Club accumulator sweepstake jackpot ticket from Saturday’s Waipa Racing Club meeting in Te Awamutu and a third charge of attempted theft of $105,454 were brought in the Magistrate’s Court today against Max William Papich, aged 34, a builder. Appearing before Mr M. L. Morgan, S.M., Papich was remanded on bail, without plea, until June 22. Bail of $3OO with a surety of $3OO was allowed. Papich must also report daily to the Newmarket police.
Papich was represented by Mr G. N. Jenkins, who sought an interim order of supression of name, but this was refused by the Magistrate.
