Reservations Of Board

Members of th* North. Can-; terbury Nassella Tussock Board have reservations, about the planting of trees in nucleus areas of infestation. When Mr J. F. Bain raised I the question at a meeting of i the board, Mr H. E. Connor said' the board had planted Pendle Hill, and an area ini Ornrhi, which was the start! of the Omihi State Forest, but he could think of areas which had not been a success.

“A lot of seed' comes Out of these areas planted in trees. I know, it keeps us going,” said Mr S. G. Taylor, who is the representative of the Lands and Survey Department.

Mr H. E. Connor said hej thought the board should ask the Forest Service for a com-] m ent ary on its experiences and opinions on the effect of planted areas on the surrounding country.
