Station To Use Oil

(N.Z. Press Association)

NEW PLYMOUTH, June 1. Until the Maui field was in production the New Plymouth power station would use oil, Mr J. G. Boddy, secretarymanager of the Taranaki Harbours Board, said at a meeting of the board. Mr Boddy said present plans were for the first turbine to be ready for generation by January, 1973, and the other four at six-monthly intervals.

The oil probably would come through the New Plymouth port and then be piped to holding tanks at the station site, he said.
