TWO MEN SOUGHT

Detectives searching for the two men who tortured a woman In a Woolston home on Friday afternoon think they might have been in nearby shops the previous day. Mrs Christine Bullock, of 1 Clarendon Terrace, who was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital on Friday with, burns to an arm and facial bruises was discharged from hospital on Saturday. She is housekeeper for Mr W. A. Pickup, a Christchurch moneylender. While she was ironing two masked men burst into the house, asked her where any money was kept and when She refused to tell them they rst beat her about the face and then used a hot iron on an atm to extract the information. With the information Mrs Bullock gave them the thieves found $l5OO and left.

Two men are reported to have asked questions on Thursday afternoon, at shops in Ferry Road, just across the Radley Bridge from Mr Pickup’s home where the robbery occurred.

One of the men involved in the robbery is described as being about 6ft, of slim build, aged between 35 and 45, having dark hair, greying at the temples, and the other, sft Bin, of stocky build, aged between 25 and 35, with dark hair. At the time of the robbery the men were wearing white dust coats. Both wore blue rubber household gloves.
