Drivers’ Signals
Sir,—l. support those who consider drivers do not use traffic signals. I have writen to “The Press” before on this subject and received uncon-
vincing replies from the head of the traffic department. As the traffic police, and ordinary police, do not always signal when turning or stopping it is obvious why other 'drivers don’t. On stopping and turning signals either everyone must use arm signals or everyone must have fitted and use traffic indicators. In my view it should be compulsory for all vehicles to be fitted with traffic indicators of a standard design and for them to be used.—Yours, etc., MODEL A. January 29, 1970. Sir, —Your correspondents’ complaints against drivers failing to signal turns are borne out by my observations at Chaneys Corner. Many motorists do not signal, caus- i ing a long wait and traffic build-up. I prefer, to signal: every time I turn a corner? It is just as irritating to come across a car with a blinker going that has no intention of turning off.—Yours, etc., WOMAN DRIVER. January 29, 1970.
