Trotters For Melbourne
"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. The trotters. Lanburn and Petite Polly, will give New Zealand added representation at the Inter-Dominion Championships, which will open at Melbourne on February 14. They will compete in special races for trotters at the carnival. Among them is the $6OOO Victoria Trotters’ Cup on the third night, February 21. Langburn and his trainerdriver. I. W. Dickie, will go by air from Christchurch on February 4. In the same plane will be Garcon Roux, Bonnie Frost. Direct Return, and Roydon Dream. Petite Polly will travel in the same aircraft, leaving on February 11, as Leading Light, Stella Frost, Co Pilot, Meadow B*nk, and Torrent.
Strong Field In Cup (N.Z. Press Association) _ SYDNEY. The field for the >15,000 Australia Day Cup at Harold Park tonight threatens the race record of 3min 30sec set by the New Zealand horse. Caduceus. in 1959. Starters include the Queensland champion, Lucky Creed. Cocky Raider, and the Tasmanian pacer. Golden Alley. The winner of the 13f 98yd cup is almost certain to become favourite for the InterDominion Championship. Lucky Creed will be attempting his twenty-fifth successive win.
