SEA TRIALS HELD

New Lifeboat

The Sumner Lifeboat Institution’s lifeboat Rescue 111, which was brought to Lyttelton by road last week and put on the slipway for fitting out and painting, held sea trials in the harbour yesterday morning. She was recently fitted with twin engines by C. W. F. Hamilton and Company, Ltd. The secretary of the institution (Mr W. J. Baguley) said some finishing touches were required to prepare Rescue 111 for acceptance trials. In addition to this, radar and radio would be fitted.

Mr Baguley said that he hoped the acceptance trials would begin next week. Mr Baugley said that the liftboat would be temporarily based at Lyttelton but would be launched and copimisstoned at Sumner when the new shed was ready.
