Old Recipes

Sir, —Can any of your older readers say how tfle old thirst-quenching oatmeal drink was mixed? I remember it well during the harvesting seasons in Canterbury many years ago. It would also be interesting to know how our grandparents cured their bacon. Perhaps there are some more senior members of our ageing generation who remember these things and can record -them before such homely arts are lost completely.—Yours, etc., B. S. NICHOLL. Taupo, November 12, 1969.
