THIS LARGE SKATE, 6ft long by 4ft 6in wide and weighing 105lb, was caught by Mr M. Lee, of Kaikoura, while surf casting at Swan Creek, Kaikoura. Mr Lee used a line of 23lb breaking strain and took 20min to land the fish. He caught a 13lb snapper with his next cast.
