New Torana Models
Compact six - cylinder models are included in the latest range of Holden Torana models just announced in Australia. Sixcylinder engines will be ; available in the two and four-door Torana S cars, the four-door Torana SL, and i the GTR sports saloon.
The six-cylinder cars are 10.5 in longer than the fourI cylinders Toranas, having an over-all length of 172.7 in and a wheelbase of lOOin. The four-cylinder models are just
lin longer than before, and are similar in styling to the bigger cars. The styling of the GTR sixcylinder model includes louvres on the front wings, and the car has been nicknamed “the Mini-Monaro” by some Australian writers. All the Toranas have the latest safety features. The six-cylinder S and SL models have 2250 c.c. engines developing 95 b.h.p. and 4600 r.p.m. and driving through a three-speed column change ‘gearbox. A 2600 c.c. engine
developing 114 b.h.p. is available as an option, and floor change four-speed gearboxes or automatic transmission are also available. The automatic has a new Australian designed threespeed transmission called the Trimatie.
The GTR sports saloon has a 2600 c.c. high performance engine producing 125 b.h.p. at 4800 r.p.m. It has front disc brakes as standard: they are optional on the other models: The four-cylinder engines remain unchanged. They are a 1159 c.c. unit developing 56.2 b.h.p., and a more powerful unit of the same capacity producing 68.9 b.h.p. All the Toranas have new seats with higher backs and increased lateral support. Trim designs have also been changed.
