Simon de Montfort Danger At Feilding

"The Press" Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. >■ The top apprentice, J. F. Harris, gave racegoer* a tip for the first tag at Falldlng tomorrow when without hesitation he chose to ride DolaRal in preference to Testify, arris . has handled both horses In their recent racing. Two starts ago Harris rode Dotapal to an impressive sprint success at Trentham. Testify had two outings at Hastings, and in the second of these Harris brought him home a narrow winner over Patrlda in the second leg of the double. The opposition in the Manchester Handicap is not strong. Dotapal and Testify ace the only horses handicapped over the 8-0 mark, and Jean Armour, which is closest of the rest on 1-9, has won only one open race, and that was a slx-furlong sprint at Otaki. The only danger to the topweights is Simon de Montfort, a smart horse at 10 furlongs, but one which seems to find It difficult over longer races. Simon de Montfort has a weight advantage of 291 b on Dotapal. and 131 b on Testify. The field in the second leg, the Flying Handicap, is more even. The possibilities include Patrlda, Jlndabyne, Bourbon Lass .Tipperary Gold, Fashion Plate, Cote d’Axur, and Souchong. Patrlda can be relied on to go well with 8-7. He has done well at both Trentham and Ellerslie. His main opposition could come from the lightly weighted mares, Fashion Plate and Tipperary Gold. They are speedsters which have fairly recent placed form, and in stronger company,' too. The track at Feilding io fast after the recent dry spell.
