N.Z. Apprentice Rides Well

(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) SYDNEY. The Auckland apprentice, D Blake, aged 20, rode Coney’s Son Into second place in the Second Marrickville Maiden (6f) at Canterbury on Wednesday. It was Blake’s first mount since arriving in Sydney a week ago. He will be in Australia until the end of the month under an apprentice exchange between the Australian Jockey Club and the New Zealand Racing Conference.

Blake is staying with the Rosehill trainer. F. Hood.

Blake had Coney’s Son in seventh place at the turn and took the horse through on the rails. He failed to win by only half a head.

Horse Omitted.-*-Molly Brown, which was handicapped at 8-5. was omitted from the Haast Pass Handican in the Westland handicaps published yesterday.
