CHARITY BALL
Water Ballet For Royalty (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, Nov. 13. Miss Suzanne Savage, who left the Timaru Girls’ High School in 1968 for Bangkok with Volunteer Service Abroad, recently took part in a water ballet staged for the King and Queen of Thailand at the “Lotus Ball”—a charity occasion which cost patrons $250 a ticket. Miss Savage, a former school athletics champion, is, among other things a swimming instructress. The water ballet, which she performed with two Thai girls, was an exhibition of water skill, executed to the music of “Unchained Melody." As well as teaching swimming at the Young Women's Christian Association, Miss Savage teaches English, singing, handcraft and sports. Before leaving New Zealand last January, Miss Savage completed a six-week course In the Thai language. Since then all her Instruction has been in this language. She will return to Timaru on December 23. Next year she will attend the University of Canterbury, where she will take an arts degree.
