Air Hostess Quest
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, November 13. Two New Zealand air hostesses have joined a group of 48 girls representing airlines from all over the world in the eighth International Air Hostess Quest. Miss International Air Hostess will be chosen at Surfers Paradise on November 21. The girls are from the United States, South America, the Pacific Islands, Asia, Europe and Australia, as well as New Zealand. The New Zealand girls are Gillian Shooter, aged 25, from Hawke’s Bay, representing Air New Zealand, and Jan Mulholland, aged 24, from
Ranfurly, representing National Airways Corporation. Miss Shooter trained as a bacteriologist before becoming an air hostess. She is now based in Auckland. Miss Mulholland, formerly a school teacher, is based in Wellington. They assembled in Surfers Paradise on Tuesday and flew to Sydney yesterday morning for a busy round which included a press conference, a motorcade through Sydney to the Town Hall, a tour of the city, film work and a reception in the evening. They left for Melbourne today to continue a tour of Australia which will wind up at Surfers Paradise for the judging on November 21.
