Lamb For Canada

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 12. The first consignment this season of fresh New Zealand lamb for the Canadian market will leave Auckland next Wednesday for Vancouver. A total of 50001 b is being flown for distribution to supermarkets, and regular weekly supplies will continue probably until June. After the success of the service last season, when 73 tons was flown to Vancouver during the five months from January 30 to June, the Meat Export Development Company started its negotiations much earlier in the season, with the result that the regular supplies have begun 11 weeks earlier. The lambs will be slaughtered on Monday by the Auckland Farmers’ Co-operative Company, Ltd, packed as cuts in cartons, and then chilled for the journey. The consignment will be fioWn by Air New Zealand on its regular weekly Los Angeles service, and then flown on to Vancouver, a system which was used successfully last season.
