VOLLEY-BALL KNOCKOUT
Competition began this week for the Kerdemelidis Cup—the annual Christchurch volleyball knock-out tournament. University A is favourite to win the final next Wednesday night. It’s experience gave the side a win over Linwood A, the B grade winner, in one semifinal. University B is likely to provide a strong challenge. The tournament for some teams is a build-up to the New Zealand championships in Wellington next week-end. Results:— University A best Old Maroons, 15-12. 15-8, 15-10; Linwood A boat Bryndwr. 3-1; University B beat Y.M.C.A., 15-12, 15-7. 15-8: Bryndwr beat Y.M.C.A. 15-13, 10-15, 15-8. 15-7; University C beat Linwood B. 3 > -0; University A beat Linwood A. 15-1, 15-8, 15-S; University B beat University Girls: Deep Freeze and Fire ‘Brigade defaulted.
