Third Time In Season

AUCKLAND. The jockey, R. W. Taylor, received his third suspension of the season yesterday when he was suspended up to and including Saturday, October 18, by the judicial committee of the Waverley Racing Club. At an adjourned inquiry, Taylor, who rode Lucky Steve in the Hobson Handicap, was found guilty of causing interference to Red Bahram (J. E. Waterson), with subsequent interference to Ming Rose iR. J. Skelton), near the seven furlongs. Tne chairman of the judicial committee warned Taylor that he could expect a much heavier penalty for any future breach. Ben Lomond Works Well

MELBOURNE. Ben Lomond on Tuesday ran another brilliant trial in preparation for his Australian debut in the weight-for-age Caulfield Stakes (191.) on Satur-
Ben Lomond, ridden by his New Zealand race jockey, R. Lang, turned in the best mile of the morning at Caulfield in Imin 43isec. He went 35 feet out on the course proper, where the going was good. His time was equivalent to a Imin 41sec mile on the rails. The New Zealand champion dashed over the first three in 36}sec, the first five in Imin 2lsec, and the first six in Imin 19sec. He covered the final two in a slower 27Jsec. On Saturday. Ben Lomond equalled a track record at Mentone, working over a mile and 20 yards in Imin 45sec, on the course proper next to the rails. Ben Lomond will clash with the champion stayer. Rain Lover, the beaten Epsom favourite. Black Onyx, and the well-performed Shorengro in the Caulfield Stakes.
Fileur, which beat Rain Lover on Saturday, has been withdrawn from the Caulfield Stakes and wUI not have another start until the Caulfield Cup on October 18.
Ben Lomond’s stablemate, Trutone, sprinted six furlongs in Imin letsec at Caulfield. The New Zealand three-year-old. Daryl’s Joy, ran four furlongs with Crewman in Stlsec. In Sydney yesterday it was announced that the promising Somerset Court, owned by Mr A. MiUens, of Cambridge, would not contest the Caulfield Cup.
The former New Zealand trainer,- L. Wiggins, who prepares Somerset Court, believes the gelding is not right at Ms top and that a Caulfield Cup start would be rushing his preparation.
