MELBOURNE, October 8. New Broken Hill Consolidated, Ltd, milled 292,509 tons of ore during the twelve week to September 20 for a yield of 25,844 tons of lead concentrate with a metal content of 19,673 tons of lead and 416,144 ounces of silver.

This compares with 169,525 tons milled in the preceding twelve weeks for a yield of 17,261 tons of lead concentrate with a metal content of 13,255 tons of lead and 296,208 ounces of silver. Zinc concentrate totalled 83,848 tons (41,802) the company said in its report through the Stock Exchange. The Zinc Corporation mine at Broken Hill, which is wholly owned by Conzinc Riotinto of Australia, Ltd, milled 225,761 tons of ore (131,035), for a yield of 33,434 tons (19,947) of lead concentrate with a lead content of 25,304 tons (15,147) and a silver content of 592,649 ounces (360,108).

Zinc concentrate production totalled 35,969 tons (21,800).

Good Profit Rise For J. & A. P. Scott

The net profit of J. and A. P. Scott, Ltd, Dunedin engineer and importer, rose by $7533 —or 34.4 per cent—to $29,429 in the year to June 30, the directors announced. ’ They will recommend the payment of the usual 4 per cent ordinary dividend.
