WELLINGTON, July 2.

For the first time in more than 20 years, no major hydro project designed by the Ministry of Works is under construction, says the Ministry’s chief engineer (power), Mr B. F. D. Ritchie, in the annual statement of the department, tabled in Parliament today. The design of the upper Waitaki development is well advanced, but the main work in hand is on structures for the New Plymouth thermal power station, he says.
