‘Compulsive Collector’
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) HENLEY-ON-THAMES (England), July 1. David Summersby’s wife Nonna is not talking to him. Something bigger than both of them has come between them: a V2 rocket.
Mr Summersby, a compulsive collector, has just added the 46ft, 13-ton rocket—complete with engine, fuel tank and warhead casing—to his collection of things and it is keeping the sun off Mrs Summersby’s raspberries. “I have been after one of these for years,” said Mr Summersby, aged 46, a former hotelier.
“The idea was to have it standing upright in the garden, but that is impossible.”
Mr Summersby said his wife was not speaking to him “all because of my lovely rocket.” Other items in his collection include fossils, an eighteenth century cannon, anti-tank guns, part of a midget submarine, and a German jet engine. “The harder things are to come by the more interesting they are to me,” he said. “I am a compulsive collector.”
