WAITANGI DAMAGE
S.M. Orders Detention (N.Z. Pr««« Association) AUCKLAND, July 1. A university student was sentenced by Mr D. G. Sinclair, S.M., today to four months periodic detention on charges of burglary and wilful damage. Donald James Cooke, aged 29, had pleaded guilty to charges of burglary and involvement in the blowing up of the S2OOO Waitangi flagpole. Cooke was sentenced on both charges. He also was placed on probation for 16 months and ordered to pay restitution of $3O in weekly instalments of not less than $5.
