Tragedy In Cornwall

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright? PORTREATH, June 17.

A giant Atlantic wave swept eight people off a harbour wall in the Cornish resort of Portreath yesterday, killing at least three of them.

The victims had gathered to watch a series of huge Atlantic swells. Minutes later they were in the sea. Four were recovered alive and three dead, two of the latter, schoolgirls. The eighth is still missing. Bystanders managed to pull the survivors from the swirling seas while other holidaymakers scrambled from the breakwater, soaked but unhurt.
