Beckenham Parking

A 30-minute parking restriction in the Beckenham shop-' ping area in Colombo Street south was sought by shopkeepers in a petition and granted by the City Council on Monday evening. The traffic committee said motorists were parking for: long periods and with the many and varied types of businesses in the area, including a large Post Office, parking was at a premium. The restriction would assist trade vehicles to park against the kerb and provide a safe carriageway for through traffic.

Reclamation Houaing.—Tenders have been called for the erection of another two blocks of. flats for the Salisbury Street reclamation bousing scheme. Each will have 21 flats in three to four storeys of reinforced concrete, reinforced concrete masonry and brick exterior construction.

Durham Street Closure.— The council agreed to the Railways Department taking a small piece of land between the railway and the north side of Cass Street, which was dedicated road but closed with the Durham Street crossing. No payment was asked for provided the department permitted overbridge construction at no cost for railway land crossed.
