QUEEN’S VISIT

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 17. The Secretary of Internal Affairs, and director of the 1970 Royal visit to New Zealand, Mr P. J. O'Dea, has been appointed New Zealand Secretary to the Queen. Mr O’Dea also becomes a temporary member of the Royal household.

The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said Mr O’Dea’s appointment would take effect immediately and would cease at the conclusion of the visit in March. Mr O’Dea was associated with both previous visits of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to New Zealand in 1953-54 and in 1963. He was administration officer on the tour staff for the first visit and assistant director of the 1963 visit. Mr O’Dea was also director of the Duke of Edinburgh’s visit to New Zealand last year.
