Professor G. Jobberns, who retired as chairman of the Avonside Girls' High School board of governors in April, was presented with a pen at the monthly meeting yesterday. He has been chairman of the board since its formation in 1949. Professor Jobberns is still a member of the board and is the board’s representative on the Christchurch Secondary Schools’ Council. Dr A Hayman has been awarded a doctorate of philosophy at Oxford University. He took a master’s degree in economics at Lincoln College and was a Rhodes Scholar in 1965. Dr Hayman will visit his parents in Christchurch next month before taking up an appointment with the Bureau of Agricultural Economics in Canberra. Mr J. Brazier, of Christchurch, was elected president of the Aviation Industry Association of New Zealand at the association’s annual general meeting in Hamilton. Mr F. W. Sawyer, of Thames, is vice-president.—(P-A.) Mr E. S. Palliser, genera) manager of the Automobile Association (Canterbury), has completed his service as an active reservist in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. A squadron leader in the reserve, Mr Palliser is believed to have been the last member of the old No. 3 Territorial Air Force Squadron in Canterbury who was still on the active reserve.
Mr A. M. White, a partner in a firm of public accountants in Tauranga, has been appointed assistant accountant of the Christchurch Municipal Electricity Department.
