Five hundred vintage cars will take part in the Sydney to Melbourne international vintage car rally next year. More than 90 New'Zealand vintage enthusiasts have entered for the event, and other entries are from the United States, South Africa, Brazil and France. The rally will start on April 4 next year and last 12 days, and there are more than 200 reserve entries on a waiting list in case any of the accepted entries later find they cannot take part » * * The fourth British formula 5000 championship race recently was won by Peter Gethin driving a McLaren-Chevrolet. Gethin also won the previous three races, but on this occasion he was strongly challenged by D. Hobbs in a Team Surtees TS-Chev-rolet. In practice Gethin broke the over-all Mallory Park lap record, set by Denis Huime in a 6-litre Lola Chevrolet, by nearly 4sec, his time of 43.8 sec also being Isec faster than Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart during a Formula I demonstration run last year.
