CONVERTED KETCH
Launching As Trawler
A 14-year-old ketch which grounded seven years ago in a storm at Akaroa was launched yesterday'afternoon at Lyttelton for the second time, as a trawler. The floating crane Rapaki was used for the launching. The boat, the Lady Christine, was recently purchased by a Christchurch fisherman, Mr B. Harris, for service in the Chathams. Mr Harris said yesterday that he had spent the last two months converting and rebuilding the craft for crayfishing in the Chathams. Mr Harris said that the Lady Christine had been idle on a lot in Moorhouse Avenue for seven years. Although she was launched 14 years ago, she was not in fact christened on that occasion. Yesterday the Lady Christine was christened by the owner’s mother, Mrs R. T. Harris. The Lady Christine is 46ft long, with a beam of 13ft Bin and a depth of sft 6in. She has been newly equipped with a 120 h.p. diesel. After fitting out she will leave for the Chathams.
