Moody Wins U.S. Open
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) HOUSTON (Texas). The United States Open champion, O. Moody, looked forward yesterday to playing in the British Open golf tournament next month.
Moody made his decision to go to England immediately after he won the United States title. He said he had received an invitation to attend the British Open and that a hotel room had been reserved for him in England.' The former army sergeant won SUS3O,OOO, top prize of the $200,000 Open purse, scoring a one-over-par 281 during the four days of play. He had rounds of 71, 70, 68, 72, winning the Open by a stroke over R. Rosburg, D. Beman and A. E. Geiberger. Next was R. Murphy with 283. B. Crampton (Australia) fared the best of the foreign players, with a final one-over 71 for a total 284. B. Devlin (Australia) was in at 286. He earned $2BOO and Crampton $5OOO. R. Cole (South Africa) finished with 290 after rounds of 73, 72, 72, 73. His countryman, G. Player, ended on 295 I after rounds of 71, 75, 72, 77.
