CAR LEAVES ROAD

Man And Wife Injured

A retired man and his wife were injured about midday yesterday, when their car went over the bank when the steering gear failed on the Pigeon Bay-Port Levy Road. They are Edward Arnott Anderson, aged 82, and Louise Angela Anderson, aged 66, both of Double Bay. Both were admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital where Mr Anderson’s condition last evening was satisfactory and Mrs Anderson’s fairly satisfactory. Mr Anderson has arm and leg injuries and Mrs Anderson has head and leg injuries.

The Lyttelton police said Mr Anderson had to walk some distance for help and the couple were ultimately taken to Diamond Harbour by utility vehicle. They were there met by an ambulance from Lyttelton and taken to hospital.
