Plans by the Lyttelton Borough Council to build four pensioners’ Sats at Winchester Street have received a setback. "We are in an unfortunate position in trying to build on a hillside,” said the Mayor (Mr J. B. CoHett). The Town Clerk (Mr J; Thompson) said the architect was investigating ways of reducing costs. Smoke.—A watch was being kept on the Harbour Board’s chimney, as it was understood that at times heavy smoke was emitted, said the health inspector (Mr J. L. O’Callaghan).
