Gifts For C.O.R.S.O.
There were signs that people were backing their concern over the 1 per cent aid controversy with practical acts of giving, Mr X R. H; French, organiser for C.0.R.5.0. in the Canterbury-Westland-Buller area, said yesterday. “We have had some large and heartwarming gifts from ordinary people in the last few days,” he said. “One young lady came into the Christchurch office and gave $5OO from a legacy she had just received. She said she believed it was right to share part of a legacy with people whose legacy is hunger and poverty. “Other people have made inquiries about supporting specific projects. “The milk biscuit now being fed to 5000 children overseas, the providing of wells for villages in India, and the C.0.R.5.0. twentyfifth anniversary project of placing a school of agriculture on Cheju Island, off the coast of Korea, are proving particularly popular for this purpose. These are development projects aimed at eliminating the causes of hunger and malnutrition.”
