Explosions In Saigon
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SAIGON, June 5. Five terrorist bomb explosions in Saigon within the space of three hours this morning killed three people and wounded six others, including an American bomb disposal expert. In the worst incident, a child and an old man died when a plastic charge was detonated in a cinema in the suburb of Gia Dinh. About the same time, a three-wheeled scooter-van carrying ice-blocks blew up on a bridge nearby, killing one civilian and injuring two others.
The American bomb disposal expert had a finger blown off when he tried to defuse a plastic charge found near a seat in a small garden adjoining the central market.
A taxi which ran over a packet containing T.N.T. near the market was damaged, and a woman and a child were injured.
Another charge went off in the basket of a woman, injuring her. The police detained the woman and seized another packet of explosive substance found on her.
